Arquitetura hoje

Directed by Pedro Urizzi and curated and hosted by Gabriela de Matos, the series highlights Afro-Brazilian architectural influence

The Arte1 channel will premiere the documentary series Arquitetura Hoje! on February 13 at 8:30 PM. The series is directed by Pedro Urizzi and hosted by architect and researcher Gabriela de Matos.

Across five episodes, the original production explores the contributions of Afro-Brazilian architecture, going beyond physical structures to examine its connection with identity, territory, and resistance.

Director's Statement

Urizzi emphasizes that the series is built on orality and active listening, following the organic movement of Black architecture and the Global South.

“Directing Arquitetura Hoje! meant crafting a narrative in motion. Just as Black architecture shapes the world, spoken word fills space and orality becomes the structure of the series,” explains the director.
